STRICKLAND STATE FOREST

Is a dog friendly adventure.

This five square kilometer forest conatins some of the most diverse flaura and fauna as well as some impressive destinations.

ITEMS TO PACK:

water, snacks, poop bags, extra socks, towel.

GUIDE TO:

This is one of the best adventures to include your dog on, why? Because this state forest has so many incredible tracks including one with a spectacular little suspended bridge which is the adventure today.

Start your journey at the entrance to Strickland state forest, staying in your car drive all the way to the bottom car park (Sroney creek car park).

There are no bathrooms down near this carpark so if you need a restroom they are located near the Banksia picnic area and first car park.

To get to the bottom car park you will be driving down a relatively steep dirt road so be sure your car is suitable. Once you have parked walk towards the information sign post the track right next to this is the starting point for your walk.

A short distance into the track you will come to a split, go left and over the creek.

You will pass over this creek a few times on the adventure and there are two amazing options to stop and let your doggo have a paddle.

The first being under the suspended bridge which is only a few hundred meters into the walk and the second a bit further on.

This walk is quite easy with some tropical like scenery.

The track itself is one big loop meaning if you choose to you can begin another walk when you return to the car park (Handy hint there is a nice little waterfall walk that starts at the picnic area).

When you reach the suspended bridge you are about a quarter of the way into the track and shortly after this there will be a fork in the path. It won’t matter which way you choose to go as this is the start of the looping part of the trail.

I prefer to start the the right going anti clockwise as this is the less scenic part of the walk, this also means that the second stopping point along the creek will be on your way back, breaking up the rest stops.

The nature here is fantastic and includes some rather large trees that contain plaques of information.

The second rest area is incredible, it is a natural bridge formed by a large fallen tree. This tree crosses the creek and on the other side you will see a small sandy bank. The perfect spot for lunch (if you don’t want to use the picnic area up top) and for another quick splash about for your furry friend to cool down.

Crossing back over natures bridge will get you back on the looping track to head back to the car and start your next adventure.
