Mount Tomaree
Mount Tomaree is a drawing card when it comes to tourism in Port Stephens.
This summit walk has recently undergone updates to its trails making them easily accessible to the public. There are guided walks available which can provide you with great insight into the war bunkers positioned on the mountain however this adventure is easily accomplished alone if you wish to do so.
With a mixture of paved paths, metal staircases and dirt trails the track up to the summit can be challenging and at 161m up you wouldn’t expect otherwise however the views offered from the peak are well worth the effort.
There are multiple viewing platforms provided offering views of Fingal spit, zenith beach, wreck beach, shoal bay, Fingal Bay and of course the ocean surrounding.
Mount Tomaree is the perfect bucket list destination.
So, whether you want to tackle the day head on and take in a sunrise, go for an explorative walk during the day and see as much as possible or watch a romantic sunset this is the spot for you.

Shark Island Lighthouse

Gosford Glyphs
Hidden in the bush on the east coast of Australia is a rather unusual sight, Egyptian symbols carved into stone.
There are over 300 symbols including Anubis, scarab Beatles and more. The sight i quite spectacular but what is it doing in the middle of the Australian bush?
Well, the story goes that an Egyptian boat became ship wrecked here in Australia and its surviving occupants carved their story for all to read.
This story was debunked in recent years however and a date of the carvings being made was estimated around the 1920's when all things Egyptian became rather popular within Australia.
But real or not this is an amazing spot and well worth the visit!
